Protestant Elder Care Westpfalz (PAW) – Haus Zellertal

How Haus Zellertal reduced documentation quality issues by 40 %

With the AI voice assistant voize, care documentation at Haus Zellertal, part of Prot. Altenhilfe Westpfalz (PAW), became a natural part of everyday care routine. Within two months, documentation entries tripled, providing noticeable relief to their care teams while seamlessly integrating with their Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.

"What surprised me most was how intuitive it is to use in everyday practice. Everything is processed quickly and reliably, which has significantly increased acceptance among staff."

The Challenge

Mobile documentation wasn't being adopted by care teams

Haus Zellertal offered mobile documentation methods for some time, but it proved to be far from intuitive for care staff to actually record the documentation during their day-to-day shifts. The result: the care teams avoided using the mobile documentation, documentation tasks were pushed to the end of shifts, entries were incomplete, and documentation came to be seen as a burden.

In a facility with 76 beds, with residents needing varying levels of care, missed documentation added up noticeably.

The search was therefore on for an alternative, voice-based mobile documentation solution that would be more intuitive and easier for care teams to use.

The Solution

Documentation becomes part of everyday care

With voize, mobile care documentation at Haus Zellertal is finally intuitive and easy to use. Care staff speak their entries directly at the resident's bedside, with input and EHR synchronization completed in seconds.

The AI understands care-specific context, recognizes dialects and clinical terminology, and automatically converts spoken input into structured entries within the existing EHR system. Intake assessments (SIS), care planning, care reports, and vital signs are all filed directly into the appropriate categories.

The rollout at Haus Zellertal is part of PAW's longer-term strategy: following the pilot project at Haus Königsland, Haus Zellertal is now the second site running voize in live operation. The goal: a modern work organization, noticeable relief for care staff, and a strengthened employer brand.

The Collaboration

From pilot project at Haus Königsland to established practice at Haus Zellertal

The impetus came from the pilot project at Haus Königsland. Based on their positive experience with voize and its seamless integration with their EHR, PAW decided to roll out voize at Haus Zellertal as well. Stephan Späth, who had completed the voize training himself in Königsland, took on the role of internal advocate at Haus Zellertal.

At Haus Zellertal alone, twelve voize work phones are in use — six per residential unit. All nursing staff use them for documentation.

  • Pilot project at Haus Königsland serves as a reference point and source of experience for the rollout
  • Integration with PAW's existing EHR environment
  • Pilot voize training at Königsland — internal advocate pass on their knowledge
  • Only needed 1 hour of training per employee at Haus Zellertal, organized around shift changes
  • Phased rollout from go-live with continuously increasing usage — all nursing staff now document using voize
